Pizza momias.

Ingredients:

Makes 4

— 2 ciabatta rolls (or similar rectangular rolls)

— 4 Tablespoons sun-dried tomato pesto or pizza sauce

— 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese — 2 small zucchinis — 4 black olives

Instructions:

1. Cut the bread rolls in half and spread each piece with sun-dried tomato pesto or pizza sauce.

2. Sprinkle each piece with grated cheese.

3. Use a vegetable peeler to cut the zucchinis into thin ribbons and lay them across the rolls at different angles.

4. Cut two slices out of each black olive and position them to become the mummy’s eyes.

5. Place the four pizzas on a baking tray and cook at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for around 20 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the zucchini slices have wrinkled.

  • Cut the bread rolls in half and spread each piece with sun-dried tomato pesto or pizza sauce.

  • Sprinkle each piece with grated cheese.

  • Use a vegetable peeler to cut the zucchinis into thin ribbons, and lay them across the rolls at different angles — the messier, the better! If you have any scraps of zucchini left over, keep them to use at another time.

  • Cut two slices out of each black olive and position them as the mummy’s eyes. I found it looked best if I nestled them in between two of the ribbons of zucchini.

  • Place the four pizzas on a baking tray and cook at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for around 20 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the zucchini slices have wrinkled. The olive “eyes” might shift slightly as the cheese melts, so check on the pizzas halfway through the cooking time and reposition the eyes if you need to.

  • As you can see, these mummy pizzas are seriously easy to make! They’re just the thing to make this Halloween if you want to get involved in the fun but you’re not the most confident cook. Nobody will care how easy they were to make when they’re tucking into their own little cheesy pizza.

Momias de hot dog!

INGREDIENTS

  • Hot Dogs – Use your favorite hot dogs!

  • Crescent roll dough – We use the Pillsbury crescent roll dough sold in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. You can buy the kind that has perforations in it or the kind that is one solid rectangle of dough.

  • Edible eyes – this candy is optional.

HOW TO MAKE THEM:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

  • Open your crescent roll package and unroll the dough so that it is a horizontal rectangle. Press on the perforations to seal them together (if you bought the perforated kind).

  • Cut the dough into 1/4 inch wide strips that go from the top of the dough to the bottom so they are nice and long.

  • Wrap the pieces of dough around each hot dog creating “bandages” by stretching the dough slightly and letting it overlap and criss-cross. You don’t completely cover the hot dog, leave gaps so it looks like a mummy peeking out from its bandages.

  • Place each wrapped hot dog on a baking sheet and then bake for 10-12 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and hot dogs are warmed through.

  • Remove from the oven and place a small dot of ketchup or mustard on the back of your candy eyes and add 2 to each mummy dog.
